Chef Shane Sauvage

Chef Shane Sauvage has been in the  restaurant business for thirty six  years working his way through the ranks from an early age. In 1995 he forfilled the dream of opening his own restaurant with his partner Janet & dubbed it La Pentola. With La Pentola as a platform Shane’s career soared & thier partnership flourished to new heights raking up numerous local & international accolades & awards.

Gourmet festival top restaurant three years consecutively , Eat out top 100,Chaines des Rottiseurs Blazon,American Platinum fine dining award sixteen years consecutively included the coveted 10 year award, numerous Diners Club winelst Diamond & Platinum awards to name a few.

Shane’s passion to teach & share his recipes lead him to publish Three books “The edge of Fusion” 2009, “Infusion” 2011 & “Cape Fusion” 2015.The later two scooped up three international awards at the Gourmand Awards in Spain for “Best Chefs book published 2011”   “Most innovative Chefs book 2015 & Best South African Recipe book 2015″.

All the recipes are on his style of food Fusion in which Shane has affectionately been dubbed by  the critics as  ” The father of South African Fusion Cuisine”  Shane & Janet’s buisness partnership blossomed into marriage & three children Falcon, Willow & Marina. Twelve years ago together they made thier life dream come true opening LaPentola Hermanus where  they reside & enjoy thier family buisness with a panoramic sea view.

Shane loves his office yet still  consults on request. Through occasional television appearances, pod casts & anual participation in the Fynarts festival since it’s inception Shane continues to share his passion & enthusiasm for food, wine & a dynamic ever evolving industry in which he continues to train chefs & navigate the challenges being an independent Chef Patron.
